Learn How to Jump Start Another Car

It happens. You may be out shopping and notice that you cannot get your car started back up to travel home. There's an easy solution - Enlist the help of another motorist with a reliable vehicle to help you jump start your battery.

  • Bring the nose of two vehicles together to jump one battery with another.
  • Find the positive ends to the jumper cables, and attach to the dead battery first and then to the car with the strong battery.
  • Find the negative ends to the jumper cables, and attach to the dead battery first and then to the metal framework of the car with the strong battery.
  • Stand clear, turn over the engine and let it run for two minutes.
  • Now turn over the car with the dead battery. It might take a few tries, but should start eventually.
  • Once started, keep the car running and start to take off the jumper cables.
  • Remove the jumper cables in the opposite order that they were placed on the two vehicles and set aside.
